Greetings Randy and the South Florida DXA-
The October 17-26, 2020 Sable Island CY0C DXpedition team respectfully
requests support for our upcoming major DXpedition effort. Currently
Sable CY0 is ranked #56 on Clublog. More notably Sable is ranked very
high on the CW and digital modes. In Europe, Sable is ranked #41 on CW
and #16 on digital. In Asia, Sable is ranked #9 on CW and #2 on
digital!! Our experienced DXpedition team estimates that we will make
40,000 to 50,000 contacts on all bands, 160-10 meters. We will also have
a two meter EME station active (WW2DX operator).
Here are the members of the 2020 Sable Island DXpedition team:
Murray WA4DAN - Team Leader
Bob K4UEE
San K5YY
Will AA4NC
Jay K4ZLE
John N8AA
Pat N2IEN
Lee WW2DX
Dan W4DKS
Lou N2TU
This team includes two members of the DX Hall of Fame. WA4DAN has five
previous DXpeditions to Sable Island as well as DXpeditions to Navassa,
Desecheo, Mellish Reef, St Paul Island and many IOTA operations. AA4NC
has dozens of DXpeditions and contest operations including Navassa,
Sable and CY9C in 2016 and 2019. K4ZLE has been on a number of major
DXpeditions including South Sandwich, South Georgia, FT5ZM and over 40
different DXCC operations. N8AA is a contest operator and was on the
CY9C team. N2IEN has participated in many DX operations as well as CY9C
in 2016 and 2019. WW2DX has participated in many DX operations as well
as CY9C in 2016 and 2019. W4DKS has many DX operations, CY9C in 2019 and
is a IOTA checkpoint in the US. N2TU has been team leader and
participated in a number of Pacific DXpeditions including Swains Island,
Wake Island and Palmyra. He was also team member WRTC 2018 and the 2015
Navassa DXpedition. K4UEE is a DX Hall of Fame member with many Top Ten
DXpeditions as Team Leader. K5YY is a DX Hall of Fame member with many
DXpeditions.
Equipment will consist of Elecraft K3's, Icom 7300's and Elecraft
KPA-500 amplifiers. High power bandpass filters will be incorporated on
each station. DX Engineering is a major supporter of this DXpedition.
Antennas will consist of Hygain monoband yagi's on 10-20 meters with
verticals and directive wire antennas on 160-30 meters. WW2DX will be
using two large yagi's on EME.
The 2020 Sable Island DXpedition will be the largest and most expensive
DXpedition ever to Sable Island. The cost for just the Sable Aviation
flights to the island and the Parks Canada charge for use of the Visitor
Quarters is $65,000. The team operators are responsible for all costs
unless we can offset some of our expenses with support from foundations,
clubs and individuals. We have already received pledges of support from
foundations, clubs and individuals as noted on our website.
We accept the QSL guidelines as prescribed by DX foundations. WA4DAN and
K5DHY will handle the QSL duties. K5DHY will handle the OQRS system and
WA4DAN will be the direct QSL manager. LOTW will be uploaded within a
month of the completion of the CY0 DXpedition. We agree to answer ALL
QSL card requests.
Randy N0TG is our webmaster and is providing much behind the scenes
logistical support. Randy has been team leader on many DXpeditions
including Navassa, Desecheo, St Paul and Sable Island.
Parks Canada has approved our 2020 DXpedition to Sable Island. Sable
Aviation will provide air transportation. There is no runway on Sable
Island so the Britten Norman Islander aircraft must land on a firm part
of the south facing beach. We will file the necessary paperwork to the
DXCC Desk for pre-approval before the DXpedition.
Our DXpedition will provide a QSL card, a written article for
publication as well as a professional documentary to the South Florida DXA.
We agree to all other requests including the South Florida DXA logo on
the QSL card as well as the South Florida DXA logo on our website
sponsor page. _www.cy0dxpedition.net <http://www.cy0dxpedition.net>_
I will be glad to answer any questions or requests.
Thank you for your support of DXpeditions worldwide!
Sincerely,
Murray Adams WA4DAN
2020 Sable Island DXpedition Team Leader
