[SFDXA] July 1 Meeting

I think a virtual meeting is a great idea. I haven't been able to attend a meeting in a long time, because I was out of town on meeting night. I think it's great Mickey is allowing the club use of the Zoom account.

I’m old enough to remember AM and all the folks complaining about SSB audio
quality and the “Donald Duck” complaints, so I’d encourage you not to
resemble those “crotchety old men.”

The media we are using now is Internet based. We could correspond via NTS
radiograms, but this conversation would run into next year.

It’s all about bandwidth. Bandwidth on normal amateur nodes is limited, so
data transfer rates are low, thus coherence is limited.

In the here and now, Internet communication is the gold standard. Your home
phone, mobile phone and almost all communication in the world uses Internet
protocol.

Zoom is the next best thing to being there.

Stay tuned for announcements of the first Virtual Hamfest coming soon,
sponsored by Icom, FlexRadio and others, sanctioned by the ARRL.

73,

Mickey N4MB
