Hello Kai,
Please pass this along to your club members and DCARC. We really need a helping
hand with this situation to support two people who have supported others all of
their lives. Thanks for anything you can do.
73,
Melanie

*SOS SOS -OUR FRIENDS NEED HELP**_
_*
*_DON SEARCH AND HOPE SMITH ARE IN A TERRIBLE SPOT RIGHT NOW AND NEED YOUR
HELP._**__*
Don and Hope have never been apart for 50 years and now with Don’s medical event
putting him in a rehab in Wilton Manors, they have a need for your help. Hope
needs rides to see Don everyday to help buoy his spirits for one and to ease the
pain of their separation for two. Since his accidental fall in December, the
couple’s whole world has changed overnight. This is a devastating life event for
them.
Please, please, if you can do just one day on the schedule, it would mean the
world to two people who have done so much for ham radio. The more people
volunteer for transport duty, the less amount of time it will take for
individuals to help out.
If youhave a block of time to offer, Hope is residing at
ATRIA Tamarac located at 7650 N University Dr. in Tamarac 33321. She is staying
in Room 242 at the moment, but may move later this week. Inquire at the front
desk when you walk in or call 954-228-6036 during working hours to locate Hope.
I spoke with a lovely lady named Indira today at the front desk.
Don is residing at Wilton Manors Rehab located at 2675 N Andrews Ave in Wilton
Manors 33311. The phone number there is 954-563-5711. Any visitors are
appreciated and Don is on the 147.330 by radio. The length of his stay will be
determined by his progress at the rehab. The plan is to get him functional and
transferring by himself to bed and chair and some walking so he can join Hope at
the ALF in Tamarac.
For those of you who do not know this, Don and Hope have been lifelong
volunteers for Ares Races during hurricane events. When the call went out for
help, Don and Hope met the challenge. Now is the time that they need OUR help.
Isolation is unbearable for socialites like Don and Hope. Please, please
consider helping out even if it is only once! Thank you.
You may contact Melanie @ 954-560-3706 to et put on the schedule to help out.
