Guys,  It has taken me two days to get myself together to get this email out.This past Saturday I had a crew at the house to begin getting one 90 ft. tower up.Two of the crew were experienced tower people and one of the two worked for a cell company.  He was the climber and was in his mid 30's.  A very nice young man and had two sets of twin babies.    We got the first set of guys set and secured and all was well.   The next set of sections were being set.  We got 40 feet above the set of guys set and secured.The last section got to the top with the 85 ft. torque bracket and the unexpected happened.  I was on the west side of the tower between the guy point and tower.  I heard Ken atop the tower scream HELP!  I looked up and the tower was falling to the east side.I feel to the ground and prayed.  Ken died on the ground before me.  What had happened a shackle bolt has broken under the stress on the turnbuckle.  My message,  your safety wire should on each guy should be inserted not through the turnbuckle but run through the thimble to your guy anchor.   I am struggling to deal with this tragedy in my back yard.  For those on this list who has a tower lets talk soon.  After 50+ years of tower work I thought I had been through it all, but now!!!!!  I am almost at a point to give up radio.    I just wanted to let you all know what has taken place here be aware of the dangers on a tower.  That's all I can say and hopefully I will get somewhat over this horrible tragedy.  Please fwd this to the Delta Radio Club and Nashoba club for distribution.  We need to let everyone know how dangerous tower work can be.  skip
