Wow! This is getting depressing.  Two of my favorite people in the ham 
community gone in less than a week's time!

I wanted to make Kappy's funeral, but I had lots of deliveries coming to my 
QTH on Monday and I couldn't leave the apartment.  (everything would 
"disappear!")

I have done some radio repairs for Kappy, and he was always so appreciative! 
He gave me a Kachina Doll that he handmade on our first meeting.  I was 
honored to be on the "antenna busters" team that got Kappy back up and 
running after the hurricane Irma damage.

I met Vant at Pete's while placing the 40 meter beam at the top of the 110 
foot tower.  Vant was a confidant tower worker with lots of knowledge.

I met both of these fine fellows in the mid '90s, before I moved from 
Coconut Grove to Plantation.

They immediately became very good friends that I was proud to be associated 
with.  They don't really make them any better than these two!

Rest is Peace Kappy and Vant.  You both will be dearly missed!

I am sad to report that Vant K4LM passed away today shortly after noon.

I went to his Hospice room at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center to visit 
with him, his wife, sister and two daughters.

We had a good visit for about 2 hours.  He was comfortable and awake, though 
he could not talk.  He did recognize me and responded with small smiles as 
we talked and joked.

Several other relatives showed up and I figured I would take my leave, with 
all of them crowding into the hospice room.

During my 1+ hour drive back to my home his daughter called me to tell me 
that he had passed away.

He is up with all the good Contesters and DXers now.
