 From a proud father,
Diana, KE4QXL, received her PhD degree from Victoria University of Wellington,
New Zealand on Dec 12 2018.

Diana Jean Siwiak Admitted to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Flute performance parameters such as expelled breath, forearm muscle movements,
applied pressure at fulcrum points and the spatial orientation of a flute
illustrate much about the proficiency of a flautist. Diana Siwiak’s research
examines new and improved methods to wirelessly acquire a corpus of data that
quantifies these observable performance parameters. The real-time data
acquisition achieved through Diana's cutting-edge hybrid signal sensing system
contains a new flute-based audio onset detection algorithm and a
state-of-the-art hybrid signal onset detection algorithm specific to flute audio
and gesture features, enabling a more complete understanding of flute
performance techniques.
Supervisors: Professor Dale Carnegie, Dr Jim Murphy and Dr Ajay Kapur

Cheers,
Kai, KE4PT
