I was up at FMC today, and the HF tower came down along with all antennas on it.
The cables were stressed when the tower came over. We must test them all...
We need to inspect the antenna on the repeater. It has been generating some static noises since Irma la Douche and may have a crack in it or be partly broken. It is working at the present time, but for the Insurance claim, if it is damaged it should be included
The Repeater tower and guys are OK and the 80/160 Meter Dipole is still up. Anyone who wants can use the station on that dipole with 100 Watts and the internal tuner.
I hope that this finds all members safe and recovering from Irma la Douche.
Mark, K2AU, lost his SteppIR and had a Hole in his roof.
That is the only bad news I have heard.
Any other tales of woe? We will re-activate “Antenna Busters” when possible to help with any member’s antenna problems, and of course the rebuild of the HF station at FMC.
We are setting up a page on the SFDXA web site with photos of the HF tower/antenna damage.
When that is up, we will post a link to y’all
