Rick,

I am glad to hear it. Have him remind them that a few notable hams such as:

General Curtis LeMay, Arthur Godfrey, Senator Barry Goldwater, Chet Atkins,
Ronnie Milsap, Walter Cronkite, King Hussein of Jordan, King Juan Carlos of Spain,
a large contingency of our astronauts and a Nobel Prize winner in Physics – Joe Taylor,
are among those they maligned!

Hi Pete:

I agree. It was horrible. Our CEO, Tom Gallagher, NY2RF, is writing CBS officials about the situation.

Thanks. See you in the pileups.

I am writing this because I was disgusted with the NCIS episode last night on the TV.

It depicted ham radio operators as a bunch of loner loosers. They had a “Profiler” who had nothing good to say about hams. She only said that they were defective from childhood and could not face society as normal people.

They did not use any authentic call signs, and made us look like a bunch of CBers with”handles” and not call signs.

Fortunately they did mention, one time, that hams were the only means of communication during some emergencies.

I request that the ARRL, as representatives of us and our hobby, send a letter of protest to the producers of the NCIS program and request that they somehow work into their upcoming programs a way to redeem their abuse of our hobby.

I feel that they did serious damage to our hobby and operator’s personas by their attitude as displayed in the program.

Sincerely,

Pete Rimmel – N8PR
