Greetings

During last night's Chesapeake Amateur Radio Service (CARS) meeting, we had
a nice presentation by Bill, KG4WV (aka w4wv). He and 2 others had been to
GITMO from 9-23 Oct 2015, Bill makes the trip twice a year to help put
GITMO in peoples logs. He has been going down there quite a long time and
he estimated that he has probably logged 30K QSOs during that time.

What I want to pass on is the dates of the NEXT trip to GITMO.....Feb
19th-Mar 4th, 2016.  They have all the antennas up including the 6 meter
antennas which were down for a long time. Bill and his 2 buddies last night
(KG4AW and KG4DY) are local to us in Tidewater and so I wanted to put the
word out. Please feel free to get it out on other reflectors that you have
access to. I am sure it will be in QST, but in case it's not, you know
about it now. You wouldn't believe the hoops these guys have to jump
through to keep a presence down there so hams worldwide can put a GITMO
contact in their log or get a card....a little insight spilled last
night...you send a card, they send a card....you no send a card, they no
send a card...pretty simple I think.
