> As a reminder, we will be conducting a drill on May 20th during the 2015 Statewide Hurricane Gibson Functional Exercise.
>
> The drill itself will begin at 9:00 am and end at 12:00 noon. If you are a ham that has been asked by your municipality to operate the radio at your municipality’s EOC, these are the actual drill times. Leadership from your municipality will let you know what time they want you there to set up and get ready.
>
> The general ham community will conduct their drill between 10:00 am and 11:00 am followed by a special session of the SEFTN net. The scenario for Hurricane Gibson is below. The timeframe of the exercise is immediately post landfall. We will be looking for situational awareness from the hams. Remember to start each of your transmissions with “This is an exercise”.

> We will be on the following frequencies:
>
> 10:00 am: 146.910 MHz (pass traffic)
> 146.790 MHz (back up frequency)
> 146.550 (Simplex main frequency)
> 146.555 (Simplex back up frequency)
>
> 11:00 am: 146.610 MHz (special session of the SEFTN)
>
> 9:00 am – 12:00 pm: CERT Radios – Mutual Aid 7

> PURPOSE, SCOPE, AND SCENARIO
> Purpose
> The 2015 Statewide Hurricane Gibson Functional Exercise is designed to test and evaluate the ability of the State, County and local governments to prepare, respond, recover and mitigate from the impacts of a major hurricane on the Florida Peninsula.
> Scope
> The 2015 Statewide Hurricane Gibson Exercise is a functional exercise that is planned for 5.5 hours, including lunch (only for those authorized for the Broward EOC) on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
> This timeframe of the exercise will be immediately post landfall.
> Scenario
>
> Hurricane Gibson is a strong Category 4 storm that makes landfall in South Florida on Tuesday May 19. The eye wall of hurricane Gibson passes directly over metro Broward County. Impacts of the hurricane include: major flooding, significant storm surge damage in coastal communities, widespread wind damage, tornado touchdowns and major damage to utilities and infrastructure. Initially, there are 25 fatalities reported and 500 Homes affected.

> The 2015 Statewide Hurricane Gibson functional exercise will be conducted in a no-fault learning environment and will evaluate existing plans, policies, and procedures as if players were responding to a real-world emergency. The exercise should not be viewed as a test or inspection of individual performance.
