Subject: Update from Malawi

Hello moonbouncers,

Thursday we started to build up a bit. It was very warm, so we did it
in a slow way, surprising how we adept so quickly to the African way
of working!
It is the end of the rain season, last night we were surprised by a
heavy tropical storm and a lot of rain. In the morning we went down to
the beach to see if the antenna still was up, it was but a part had
sunk in the sand. We managed to get a better base. The 144 MHz is
almost ready, and we spent a lot of time to put reflecting foil on the
dish for 23,13 and 9 cm. All on schedule for the higher bands.
We still are struggling with electricity. There are 3 phases (for a
waterpump, that got stolen btw), but we want 2 phases 230V. We are
working on this too.

We will be QRV tomorrow. Because of the conditions, we will start on
our moonrise, see below.
We stay at a lovely place, we only had three times fish until now and
that is is something different.
Malawi is a very poor country, average life expectation is under 40.
Big families with 6 children is common. There are about 30 people
working in this resort. It is a strange feeling to see so much poverty
around us, this is the worst we have ever seen. But as always we want
to have direct contact with the people as much as possible and spend
our money direct to them.

However, Saturdayevening (UTC time) we will be QRV from our moonrise
at 22:20 UTC on 144.134 MHz, 7Q7EME always first.
