[SFDXA] Another opportunity for gray line propagation to VK9C

All,

A group from Norway is planning a DXpedition to the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (VK9C)<http://dipperdx.com/cocos2016/> during 14-26 March 2016 (yes, a year from now).

I note that this expedition should represent an excellent opportunity for gray line propagation between VK9C and the US East Coast on the low bands.

On 20 March, midway through the DXpedition, VK9C SR will be at 2336z and SS at 1143z. On that day in Ft. Lauderdale, SR is at 1124z and SS at 2332z, so there is an opportunity for gray line propagation around 2334z, at SS in Florida and SR in VK9C. The likelihood of these openings will be increased if the DXpedition is on the west coast of West Island (site of the 2013 VK9CZ DXpedition), with a clear shot over the sea to the SW.

In addition, I note that 20 March is also the vernal equinox for 2016 (at 0430z, to be precise). Because of this, the gray line openings should exist farther west than those of the 2013 DXpedition, which was two weeks after the equinox.

It should be fun.

Ed N4II.
