In 2009 or so, I was in the Sunnyvale, CA, HRO store and asked to operate
the station to check out the latest Icom radio. An older, tall, slim man
with a moustache came over, introduced himself as Bob and helped me switch
antennas to get the radio on the beam. I made a few contents on HF and
commented that "this works a lot like my IC756Pro2."

We spoke a few minutes, he was really knowledgeable and introduced himself
as W6RJ and the owner of HRO.

I asked him why he didn't have a store in Florida. He explained that he did
"a lot of business with hams in Florida" who would rather wait a few days
than pay state sales tax, and that the incremental business from a store
wouldn't be profitable.

Great guy, good businessman - and I learned why we don't have an HRO in
Florida.

Hopefully, he's left good succession for HRO managment and they'll continue
to operate. He'll be missed!

73,
