Many of us wondered what was going on with CQ Magazine. Here's the word.

...and if you don't subscribe, consider doing so! It's a good amateur radio
magazine and there are times that we need counterpoint to ARRL views.

Hi, everyone,

If you subscribe to *CQ Magazine*, you probably know that the December
print issue was late, and the January and February issues haven't arrived
at all (yet).

I just uploaded Episode 136, a talk with *CQ* editor *Rich Moseson W2VU*.
Rich says the January print edition is in the mail now, February will
follow shortly, and they'll get back on track by publishing a combined
March/April edition.

Clearly, CQ has been in trouble. There's been more radical surgery to save
the patient: *CQ-VHF, Popular Communications* and *WorldRadio Online* have
been axed, though some of their columns and content will be absorbed in the
*digital* edition of *CQ*, in a section called *CQ-Plus*. That will add
about 50 pages to the online version, but won't appear in the print edition.

CQ-Plus begins with the February issue, and both January and February can
be viewed online now at their web
site<http://cq-amateur-radio.com/news/2014_02_attention_cq_subscriber.html>.
You don't have to be a subscriber to see these two online issues, so it's a
good chance for everyone to sample the online edition.

*CQ* is a valuable asset to Amateur Radio, as a magazine and for all the
contests and activities they sponsor. And they are probably a significant
bellwether for the health of Amateur Radio in general. I hope the worst is
behind them and better times lie ahead!
