AEREO LOSES SUPREME COURT CASE--What IS an Antenna?

Today, the US Supreme court sided against the tech startup Aero and
sided with broadcasters in an historical decision. Aereo provides
remote retransmission of broadcast thru an elaborate system that
alleges each subscriber gets a separate, tiny 'antenna' that thus
allows each and every subscriber to PRIVATELY choose, record and
    play back broadcasted transmissions.

The Supreme Court decided that each subscriber was privy to a PUBLIC
re-transmission, not a PRIVATE one, thus making it illegal as posed.
This enforces the notion that each of the Aereo 'antennas'--each the
size and shape of some tiny paperclip--were in fact not bona fide
antennas at all, but required a large ensemble of other subscribers'
    'antennas' to work.

This is not the first time that semantics of 'antennas' have been
used to define a technology premise, but it is the most expensive
and public one, as Aereo looks to have lost (apparently) $100M for
its investors, according to news reports.

Resonators are not antennas:-) Everyone knows that...
