The lead story is really two stories in one. Thanks to the successful
December 2011 transatlantic California Near Space Project balloon
flight, the team tried to beat their record with a second launch this
past December. Thinking that it was not recoverable, they were surprised
to hear from Patrick Marteau, CN2GW/F1GXW, who let them know that he and
his team recovered the payload. His story follows Ferguson's. Also in
this issue is an article about another balloon launch and the results of
the 2012 CQ WW VHF Contest. Read these articles, along with other
exciting features and the regular columns in this latest issue of CQ VHF
magazine.
