Subject: ARES/RACES shelters need your commitment now
For those of you that were at the ARES/RACES meeting, I want to thank you
for coming to our meeting as it was pouring rain and lightning outside.
I am sending this email out to our ARES/RACES reflector, the BARC Mailing
List and to other amateurs that were and were not at our meeting. Please do
not worry if you receive this more than one time.
Please bear with me as I need to get the word out to all hams that live in
Broward County Florida.
Included in this email is the PDF of the Broward County Shelters that need
to be covered whenever a manmade or natural disaster occurs and Broward
County gives a call out to all ARES and RACES members and hams alike.
Please see if you can volunteer to take on one of the schools listed, that
will be utilized as a shelter this year if the County activates us. In a
perfect world, there should be at least two hams at every facility. This
way, one can relieve another when one get tired. So, please see if you can
buddy up with another ham friend.
We also have 5 special care facilities and 5 hospitals in the North Broward
Hospital District to cover also.
If you had an assignment in years past and would still like to work it
again, please advise us. If you are not a current member of Broward County
ARES/RACES and would like to join, please fill out an application included
above and send this back to me with your choice of shelters to volunteer
for.
Please Let me know by emailing me that you will take on the commitment of
taking on a shelter. If you have any questions concerning this, please give
me a call.
Remember this is a commitment only. If there are no manmade or natural
disasters, you will be required to do nothing.
