You can also tail-end, just make sure you don't cover up the station the
DX is working.  I worked 7O6T on 17m phone this way with 100 watts and a 
dipole.
I've wrked them 9 times (3 at 100 watts and a dipole) and almost every 
time was
by finding the station he was working.  It is easier on CW because you 
can use
your wide filter and hear the stations they are working easier.
