No one in the SFDXA knew this man but I think for his accomplishments he
should be recognized. Note his callsign also.

Ernest A. Herr1923-2012
Early in his youth he became a ham radio operator, communicating by
short wave radio with people all over the world. While still a high
school student, he began work with Bell Telephone, a job he held until
he retired.
Shortly after Pearl Harbor, Ernie enlisted in the Navy, as a radioman on
a Destroyer and later becoming a Chief Petty Officer on an aircraft
carrier. His ships participated in all the great sea battles in the Pacific.
Sometime during his stint in the Navy, he returned to school at Hampton
Sydney and later Princeton.
When the war ended he returned to Bell Telephone and began writing. His
career as a Navel Historian took on greater significance when the
Internet arose. His historic accounts won him seven national literary
awards, and several were portrayed on the History Channel. At one time,
his internet readers numbered in the millions (of hits).
For the past 5 weeks, Ernie now 90, struggled with double pneumonia. On
Friday afternoon, Feb. 10, 2012, tired and exhausted, he closed his eyes
to rest a bit.
His little sleep, quietly and peacefully became eternal.
He was my brother and one of Albert Einstein's students.
