Here are a few more notes on LOTW processing:
Today LOTW has a QSO backlog of Q=9,070,997 QSOs. We don't know if duplicate
logs or dupe QSO are included in that number.
I took a snapshot of the QSO total yesterday and 23 H 8 M later today. The rate
at which new QSOs are generated is R=176,883 QSOs per day.
That QSO total is now 462,492,669 QSOs. Note that in June/July LOTW was
processing QSOs a rate of 390,000 QSOs per day!!
If the backlog (Q) is the number after dupe uploads are removed then the current
queue will take Q/R=51.3 days to clear.
They are currently working on logs that are about 10 days old, and that delay
seems to be holding steady for a few days, so I suspect that around 80% of the
backlog contains dupe uploads which must be filtered out before further
processing to find a match.
This all points to predictable bottle necks in data processing that can not be
cured simply with faster hardware.
