No -- one of the benefits of listening to other people's stories is that I can do so while sitting in my comfy Florida armchair, and don't have to live through their experiences myself.  :-)

Besides, I spent February-July 1980 on a containership sailing through the Bering Sea, going back and forth between the West Coast and Japan.  That was sufficient, ah, exposure to the elements.
