SPECIAL EVENT NOTICE
This Speaker Notice is an addition to the March 2, 2011 meeting notice.
(Same meeting time and location.)
The South Florida DX Association meeting speaker on March 2, (Wednesday)
2011 (will be Bill Rafus, KD4FRB who will discuss amateur radio
satellite technology. Bill has been the AMSAT Area coordinator for South
Florida for over 12 years. Bill has been involved with teaching and
assisting Amateur Radio Operators with basic and advanced satellite
earth-station setup and operation.
Bill assisted in the construction of AMSAT OSCAR-40. Bill also assisted
in building the amateur antennas currently in use aboard the
International Space Station for the ARISS
amateur radio program.
The Presentation will discuss the following topics:
Tracking of satellites using available on-line resources and
computer software.
Radio equipment required for EasySat operation.
Antennas required for EasySat operation.
Operating modes and an overview of available satellites.
EasySat FM operation radio programming.
Doppler Shift.
Operating Tips.
The Presentation will include Q and A.
