Hey Bill
Thanks for the tip on the Santa Claus net. I can remember this for as
long as I have been active on HF. Not very long compared to you guys,
but I still remember another ham that did a Santa Claus net. He also had
a web site with a web cam so the kids could see Santa as they talked
with him on 20 meters. I also Knew Clyde KG4BVR
*A Tribute to Clyde McAfee* *-* *KG4BVR *
For years Clyde, KG4BVR, of Eightmile, Alabama, ran the Santa Claus Net
on 20 meters. Bob, AA4EE, has taken over for Clyde and is doing a great
job! 14300.net has found in it's audio achives some great clips of
KG4BVR running the net and we have posted them below for your listening
pleasure. Clyde was a great Net Control Operator and had his own
colorful style. It has been about two years since his passing and his
radio went silent. Listen to some of the mp3 clips below and remember
Clyde.
My first call sign was KG4VBR. I checked into the MMN when Clyde was net
control. They were all pretty shocked when my call sign came across.
Thanks for the memories. Happy Holidays an Regards from my family to yours.
