*Good Afternoon Everyone:*

* *

*Well, after much travel and negotiations, we are ready to start
accepting "reservations" for an "Amateur Radio Indian Weekend" in
December. The "event", if you want to call it that, is going to be held
at the "Billie Swamp Safari" located 19 miles N of Alligator Alley which
is how you get there. (Technically this is in Clewiston).** They've
agreed to give us a fifty percent (50%) discount on entrance and
accommodations which include "group cabins", (which by the way sleep
either 8 or 12 individuals), and small cabins (which sleep 2 people).
Cabins is used in the loosest sense of the word, but they should keep
you dry, off the ground and above alligator level. *

* *

*We can bring our own food and cook our own meals, or we can arrange to
purchase meals at the restaurant they have on site (I've eaten there
and the food is good and not overly expensive), and they've told us that
we will even get a "group rate" if some of us choose to do it that way.
(More information will follow).*

* *

*We'll have plenty of room to put up antennas, radios, generators, and
we can also , for an additional charge, go out on the air-boat rides,
the swamp buggy rides, and partake of other attractions at the site.*

* *

*It is the "20th Anniversary" for Billie Swamp Safari, so we'll
advertise this as a "Special Event Station" with a special event call
sign and issue a "Special" QSL Card for those who make a contact with
us. (You can also operate under your own call with your own radio if you
wish). This is the weekend of the ARRL 160 Meter contest, and we'll have
plenty of room to stretch out some 160M antennas. So those who have
wanted to get on the Top Band and never had the room will have a chance
to try that. We will also have antennas for other bands as well. Being
in the middle of the swamp there should not be much electrical noise
around us and plenty of good grounding.*

* *

*Please, understand, that even though several of us from the West Palm
Beach Amateur Radio Club have organized this, this is NOT just a WPB
Club event. We want EVERYONE, from all the local Clubs to come as well
as those individuals who are not associated with any particular Club or
organization.*

* *

*This is a HOBBY, and not a political party, and we want everyone to
have a good time at a VERY reasonable price.*

* *

*You can stay one night or two nights, or you don't have to spend the
night at all and can come out on Friday evening when we all will be
setting up, or you can come down for just the day(s), on Saturday and/or
Sunday. The idea is just to HAVE FUN and enjoy Ham Radio in the swamp.*
