Willy, KX4WW says he has plans to leave the chilly confines
of Washington, DC and fly down to the Turks and Caicos for the
upcoming ARRL 10-Meter SSB contest, Dec 10-12.
Willy writes that he’ll be in the contest “with some old buddies”,
Bruce, W4OV and Noll, W9RN, and their plan is to do
a multi-single effort in both SSB and CW using the call sign
VP5WW.
All the antennas at Willy’s Providencia QTH have been “blown
away by hurricanes”, he notes. So W4OV is building a “custom,
airplane friendly, 2-element quad” for use in the contest. Additionally,
Willy says he’s putting together some wire antennas for the
other bands for the group to “play on” before and after the 10 meter
contest.
And, when all of the above fails, “If the band is dead the bar and BBQ
will be OPEN!!”,
