Because of the overwhelming response to take a Skywarn Course, we will be
putting on another training class for the SKYWARN Storm Spotters on
Saturday, July 24th, at the Davie Police Department. Davie Police Department
is located at 1230 South Nob Hill Road in Davie Florida.

This will be located on the S.E. corner of State Road 84 and South Nob Hill
Road. The entrance to the building is located on the East side of the
building.

The class is intended for those interested in becoming a Storm Spotter or
those who are spotters already and wish to take a refresher course to
sharpen their skills.

Classes for a combination beginners through advanced Storm Spotters will be
taught in a combined class by a meteorologist with the National Weather
Service.

Preregistration by Friday, July 19th, is required as only 60 seats are
available. The class is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Attendees must
be at least 14 years old and accompanied by an adult. Attendees need to make
their own lunch arrangements. As a note, there is a Berger King located
directly across from the Police station.

To register, email n4hhp at comcast.net.

SKYWARN Storm Spotters is a nationwide network of volunteers who report
observations of significant weather and damage resulting from severe weather
to the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service then sends
alerts to the public via television, radio, marine, aviation and weather
radios, public safety agencies and other information sources that severe
weather is approaching or has been sighted.

Training is required in order to be a Storm Spotter. SKYWARN classes are
ideal for amateur radio operators, Red Cross volunteers, CERT, firefighters,
students or anyone who is interested and wants to serve.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have any doubt in taking this class, please give us the
courtesy of a few days notification before the class that you will not be
attending so we can contact someone on the waiting list to still attend the
class.
