Hi everyone,
Welcome to Spring. At least I think it's Spring even though temps are
supposed to be in the 40s overnight here. Please continue to keep an
eye out for severe weather events.
It's not my intention to fill your Inbox. I simply want to tell you
about a change in the Southern Florida Section and pass along a helpful
reminder.
First, the change in the SFL Section. We have an Affiliated Club
Coordinator (ACC). Please welcome Steve Lowman, N4SGL, as our new ACC.
Steve is from Port St. Lucie and will be visiting clubs in the section
and attending hamfests.
Second, a valuable reminder: Educate members of your household on how
to properly power down your station in an emergency. Case in point,
the following item from the February edition of the Official Observer
Summary.
"After receiving a call about a transmitter stuck on 10 meters, an Ohio
OO was able to help the family of a SK who had just passed away during
the night. Not knowing what to do after seeing his equipment still on,
a family member finally asked on the air if anyone was hearing them and
that they needed help closing down the station. The OO was able to
locate the QTH since the family member gave the ham's call sign after
seeing it on his desk. After arriving, he learned the story and was
asked to later contact this amateur's friends to pass on the news. A
rather unique service provided by an OO."
Have a wonderful radio day!
73,
Sherri, W4STB
