Most of us who chase DX I think on occasion thought that responding or calling
the DX in their language could help in getting through the pile up. Or once in
QSO that it would be nice to make comment in the DX's native language. I used
to have a book with "common phrases" for the DXer to assist in this endeavor,
but it is never handy it seems when I could use it. There is a novel solution
available.
I am also guessing that most of us are now using computer logging - and there
are a variety of those programs available. A new feature to the application I
use DXLAB Suite is a Translation file/data base. The following is an excerpt
from the program author Dave AA6YQ follows-
---"DXView is a component of the free-ware DXLab Suite. -- (one of eight
modules)
"I have extended DXView to serve as a Universal Translator by equipping it with
a Translation database that knows ~50 DXing words and phrases in 68 languages.
Type in or double-click a callsign, and DXView's Translation window will
display the words and phrases you employ most frequently in each of the
languages used in that callsign's DXCC entity. Here's what my Translation
window looks like after activating a Vatican callsign:"---

Interestingly enough you don't have to use DXLab's logging program to use this
feature as the various modules can be individually opened and used. These
translations can be propagated into the RTTY/PSK application WINWARBLER.
Try it, you may find it useful -
