 From Bill NA2M

Seattle native KHØAC (ex KG6SW, W7DXH), Dr. Leonard J. Kaufer, passed
away yesterday. He was 86. Len moved to the US trust territory of
Saipan in the 1960's and was a Jesuit priest. There he met and
married a local island girl named Connie Tenorio, thus ending his
carrier in the ministry. Len then began working for the Headquarters
Division of the Department of Education for the Trust Territory of the
Pacific Islands (TTPI) in 1970. Len could often be found in most of
the SSB DX Contests and had 304 countries confirmed for his Phone
DXCC. He was also a regular on the ANZA DX Net where he would often
check in with a "great sense of humor and a laugh", remembers K7SS,
Danny. K7JA (then K7VPF), Chip Margelli, who operated from Len's
KG6SW station in 1976, said "Len was an incredible gentleman, excited
about DX and Ham Radio in general until the last". Our condolences to
his XYL Connie and the Kaufer family. Anyone who has worked Len over
the years should QSL (soon) via K7ZA, Jon, who was unable to get Len
to put his logs into a computer. So there will be no LoTW
confirmations.
