Hi everyone,

There are a lot of changes to report this month.

The New ARRL web is up. Log in as a member to enable yourself to view
all features.

To find the Southern Florida Section page go here:
http://verio.arrl.org/Groups/view/southern-florida and save it as a
favorite ( about 5 key strokes and 5 pages of lists if you don't save
it).
The Favorites choice is broken today but save this message to add the
favorite next week.
Note: I do not like the fine print either. I voiced my opinion and
there MAY be a change down the road. There are broken links and many
areas are still under construction, however I am seeing small
improvements each day.
Here's a few things that I found helpful:
The search function is working but results are interesting since the
meta tags are still being loaded. Play around with the site and if you
find problems there is a "having trouble?" link on most pages. This
leads you to a form to report the bugs.
When using the favorites link at the site don't use the non-
functioning GO button.
The website search in the upper right of the home page has a "category"
choice. Here you will find Clubs, Exams and Hamfests.

Other changes:
Please join me in saying a big thank you to Karen Briggs, K8KB for her
hard work as our SEC for the past several years. Karen is stepping
down effective May 1st as SEC to devote more time to work. She will
continue as EC for Martin County.
Stepping in as SEC is Ted Huf, W4ZE. Ted has been involved in NTS and
AARES for many years both here and in other areas where his career took
him. Most recently he has served as EC in St. Lucie county.
St. Lucie's new EC will be Steve Lowman, N4SGL.

April is Volunteer Recognition Month in Florida. Thank You, thank you,
thank you to all of you who volunteer for ARRL, local ARES groups, radio
clubs, community organization, relifious organizations, schools and
other places. YOU are what makes the organizations run. YOU are the
people making a difference in your communities.

========
Our Affiliated Club Coordinator, Steve Lowman, N4SGL sent the following
message to the current SFL Affiliated Clubs. I am repeating it here in
case he missed your club or ARES® group.
"One of the responsibilities of the Affiliated Club Coordinator (ACC)
is to ensure that the affiliated clubs file an annual report with ARRL
headquarters to reflect the respective clubs’ current officers,
liaisons, and mailing addresses.

This email is being sent to the person listed as president on the ARRL
club files at the Newington, CT headquarters. If you are no longer
president of your club, the annual report for your club needs to be
updated. These updates should be sent directly to ARRL
headquarters. I would appreciate your sending me a copy by email so I
can update my files as well.
Another responsibility of the ACC is to work with the affiliated clubs
to help them achieve their goals and to let them know what ARRL
resources are available to aid them in better serving their members.
As president of the Port Saint Lucie club, one of my biggest challenges
was to find programs for our monthly meetings that would both interest
and educate our club members. I am grateful to many of our fellow
hams who were members of other clubs who, in some cases, drove more
than two hours (one way) to speak at our meetings. One of my goals,
therefore, is to develop a list of hams who are willing to make
presentations to other clubs. If you have a member or a guest speaker
who has put on a great program for your club, please email me that
person’s name, contact information, and the subject of his
presentation.
Similarly, if you are looking for a program on a particular topic,
please email me your needs, and I will try to help you locate someone
who can make an effective presentation on that topic.
My contact information is as follows:

Email:
N4SGL at att.net
Home Phone: 772-343-0865
Cell Phone:
772-342-5150
Home Address: 672 NE Owls Nest Ct

Lastly, a reminder. June 5th is the deadline for SFL Section Manager
nominations. Voting will be in July via sealed mailed ballet.
===========
That's all I have for now. Please note that any strange characters in
this message may be due to my learning the new web site criteria.
Take care of yourself, enjoy the beautiful spring weather and get on
the air and have a QSO (maybe in the FLorida QSO party this weekend?).

73,
Sherri, W4STB
