Here is my response to Dan. It should get a wider audience...
*Nothing magic about this at all, except perhaps the intense marketing
ploys that MIT are using. The original work dates to Tesla's realization
of resonance for efficient coupling of coils. I've been following it for
the ARRL RFSC for nearly two years. These idiots are failing to
acknowledge that the far field power that this system radiates is
sufficient for world wide HF communications. This could easily outpace
BPL as a universal interferer. Furthermore they do not respect frequency
limits. There is a 13.56 MHz ISM frequency to which they should be
confined, but they have not figured out how to keep the frequency
stable, so it runs open loop.
This system is also dangerous from the RF exposure point of view.
If there is any venue of which you are aware to express the interference
potential of this system, PLEASE use it!.
