[South Florida DX Association] A Salute to HAM "AMers" Big Boy Toys

Nirvana makes me nervous. I prefer bluegrass myself. Talking about
AM...around 1960 I was going to college in Ft Wayne Indiana. There was a
fellow named Bobby Sever who did the farm report on WOWO in the morning who
was also a ham. I don't remember his call. He had an AM transmitter that
sounded the same on 75 meters as the 50KW signal on the AM broadcast band.
The modulation transformer was in a box with lots of insulation because it
talked and would cause feed back if left out in the open. Good AM
transmitters are expensive. When I heard him on 75M I wondered why I was
picking up a harmonic from the broadcast band.
