Thanks to W4PJ,KI4WDQ,KG4EQY,WA4WTG,AG4RJ,KI4RSV,N4IEW for checking in to Wednesday's net...Obviously many of the regular check-ins may have gone to Dayton or may be on vacation; we missed your presence;hope all is well and look forward to your participation in the future Wednesday nets...
During the session we had comments including:the seasonal migration of members and member's relatives to the Carolina and New York mountains;how many were first exposed to ham radio and how the hobby has changed over the last 50 to 60 years;and the similar experiences 2 participants have had cultivating and growing their own vegetable gardens...
Although we had 8 check-ins the meeting was informative and lasted 45 minutes...
The May 6th dinner meeting presentation of the DXpedition to Mellish Reef was very interesting...I did a google search of "VK9GMW DXpedition" then went to LA8AJA's homepage and here found some good dx comments on many Dxpeditions(in addition to stories by the dx participants, there were comments by many of the hams that had worked the event station)...also, FYI, learned that a new IRC will be launched on July 1st 2009...
The ARRL is asking all radio hams to support HR 2160-"The Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Enhancement Act of 2009"...By going to the ARRL home page and searching "HR 2160" you will see how easy it is to let our members of the US House of Representatives know that we need their help in passing this legislation...I suggest you read the bill,as shown at the ARRL site and,if you wish, do what ya gotta/wanta do...
The next dinner meeting will be on July 8th.........
