[South Florida DX Association] SFDXA January Meeting Announcement

SFDXA MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

The next meeting of the South Florida DX Association will be held on
Wednesday evening, January 7, at the Florida Medical Center (FMC) Auditorium
in Lauderdale Lakes (West Oakland Park Blvd. adjacent to the Florida
Turnpike). Members and guests will gather at 6:00pm for our bi-monthly
fixed-price dinner ($7 per person). As usual, our meeting and program will
begin at 7:33pm.

Our featured program this month will be the VP8THU video of the Micro-Lite
DXpedition to the South Sandwich Islands. This video provides you with the
opportunity to witness, along with 100,000 penguins, the difficulties faced
by DXpeditioners in an environmentally hostile environment. It is another in
the highly acclaimed video series written and filmed by James Brooks, 9V1YC.
Don't miss it!

Election ballots were mailed to all SFDXA Full members in December. The
completed ballots that were mailed back to the SFDXA Secretary will be
unsealed and counted during our January 7th meeting. The elected 2009 SFDXA
Officers and Directors will then be announced. They will assume their
positions in March.

Full members and DX Associates will also vote on an application from an
existing Associate member to upgrade to Full member status at this meeting.

This is a reminder that 2009 SFDXA membership dues from Full, DX Associate
and Associate members will be accepted at out January meeting. In addition,
voluntary contributions to a separate SFDXA fund to support worthy
DXpeditions are also being sought. In 2008, the SFDXA provided support for
the VK9DWX DXpedition and for the upcoming DXpedition to Desecheo scheduled
to begin in February, 2009.
