We have a new Special Service Club in the SFL Section. Please join me in
congratulating Palms West ARC.
Speaking of clubs, I hope your local clubs are healthy. Is the number of
members in your club declining? Can prospective members and area visitors
find your club?
There are several free ways to help new folks find your club. Most local
newspapers whether daily, weekly or monthly have club or event listings. Be
sure your club meetings and exam sessions are listed there, both in the
print
and electronic versions (this may take two separate postings). Many folks
use the web to find events and most of us have heard of Craigs List. Here's
a few more places to list meetings, exams, and even hamfests.
www.craigslist.org
www.kijiji..com
www.backpage.com
www.domesticsale.com
www.olx.com
www.adoos.com
www,zvents.com
www.eventsetter.com
All of these sites do not have all local cities listed but if you are savvy
there are nearby cities that you could list the events on. Give it a try
and
let me know if these sites bring in new members for you. Don't forget to
pitch the local ARES group the same way.

For information on all ARRL awards go to: http://www.arrl.org/awards/
Only currently appointed ARRL card checkers may certify your cards for
awards.
Go to http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/checkers.html and

for lists of card checkers.
---------------------
Florida ranks 49th in the nation in the number of volunteers. Let's change
that, at least in Amateur Radio. If you would like to volunteer your
special
skills to the Southern Florida Amateur Radio community go to :
http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/org/ read the position descriptions and
complete an online application if you think there is a position for you.
You
will be asked for additional information and references and the web
descriptions of the appointments are minimal. I can answer your questions
or
refer you to a volunteer doing the job you are interested in, so send an
e-mail.
That's all for now. Stay safe, stay healthy. Get on the air and make a new
friend.
73,
Sherri, W4STB
