When did the Demo's take over Congress?  that's right, about the time 
the economy started slipping.

Actually, the deregulation that caused many of the problems we are having now 
had their seeds in the Reagan Administration, and the Congress of the 1980's. 
Bad lending practices have been running rampant since the 1990's, as a result of this
deregulation.  Both parties bear much blame, but it would be simplistic to say that 
the dems have been the cause of this, when they have a slim majority in the Congress
for all of 2 years.
