If your laptop isn't that old, you may have some audio options.
My laptop is a hair under two years old. When I plug something into
the "in" jack, it asks me to identify if I want it to act as a microphone
or as a "line input."

I've been able to use my laptop with my microKEYER with no problems.
I've run the laptop and microKEYER for my Pro III an IC-7000 and
my IC706 in the truck.

Another potential idea - if your "IN" jack is only a microphone input,
you can buy a gadget from RadioShack (I forget what it's called). It has a
transformer looking piece (like a boa constrictor that ate a pig!) that lets
you
use a mic input like a line input. It "knocks down" the signal to the
appropriate
levels.

In layman's terms, it's a do-fligit with a whatch-ma-callit to make it work
right.
Sort of a techie term meaning "I don't really understand how it works, but
it
works!"
