Hello supporters,
Several months ago I announced my candidacy for the ARRL Southeastern Division Director and asked for your support in this endeavor.
To update you on the campaign:
--- The ballots will be mailed to ARRL members in October.
--- I have been distributing bookmarks to remind members to vote, for me, in the upcoming election.
--- David, W4DKB and I were at the BirmingHamfest in Birmingham AL on May 5-6, distributing bookmarks there and wearing T-shirts asking members to vote for me.
--- We were at Dayton Hamvention. There I was a presenter at several forums and greeted attendees at the PR booth and the SM/Field Appointees booths in the ARRL Expo area.
I need your assistance with the upcoming activities:
--- Signatures on the nomination petition during the period of late June through mid August.
--- Permission to list you and/or any clubs as supporters/endorsers
--- Comments from you that I may post on my campaign web page
--- Continued comments to your fellow hams about the upcoming election and my candidacy. Please do not conduct any campaigning for me on-the-air. If the matter is mentioned say you will send an e-mail or call on a landline, but do say that the comments you have are positive.
--- As the election gets closer I will be sending information to club contacts -- please see that this information is published in club newsletters and not placed in a "future reference" file.
Here's a comment I have been including in QSL cards, with a bookmark;
"The ARRL must not remain stagnant. A balanced approach is needed to recruit and retain new hams and ARRL members. We need to address the issues of efficient emergency communications, new technology and experimentation, fiscal responsibility, the magic of hearing your call sign from a DX station on the other side of the planet, and the threats to our frequencies and the ability to erect antennas.
Each amateur should have a voice heard by the Board of Directors. The directors should respond to members and provide them with information important to amateur radio. Reading the published minutes of Board meetings does not accomplish this.
If elected Director I will send you periodic newsletters and seek your input on matters coming before the Board. I will work to improve communication between Headquarters, the Board of Directors, and the ARRL members. "
Thanks for your support. Together we can keep Amateur Radio alive and well.
