11/10/2007:  Members of the Radio Club  Venezolano announce they will
be active as YW3AJ from Portuguesa State,  Venezuela, from October
11-14th. Activity will be on 160-6 metres, VHF/UHF and  all modes.

12/10/2007:  Rick/N0NJY  and JoAnne/KB0IRW will be active from Runaway
Bay, island of Jamaica (NA-097,  WLOTA LH-0214), as homecall/6Y5 from
October 12-14th. This will be a "fun island  DXpedition" (Celebrating
their 30th wedding anniversary and 18 years as hams  together!).
Operational times: approximately 1700-2100 UTC on Friday and
Saturday, and 1700-2000 UTC on Sunday. Frequency: split frequency
operation  during operations hours on 14.190 +/-10 kHz, TX, listening
14.200 - 14.230 (+/-  10 kHz). Equipment: ICOM IC-735, Alinco Power

12/10/2007:   Tom, W4JKC will be working at a biological field station
on the Isla Colon in  the Bocas del Toro Province Group (NA-088),
Panama, from October 12th to  November 2nd. He will be using the call
sign HP4/W4JKC and activity will be  limited as time permits. Look for

RDA Districts AL-72 (Belokuriha), AL-30  (Krasnogorsky) and AL-61

14/10/2007:  The Fagnes A.R.C. (F5KDB) will be active October  14th as
follows, from several Forts located in the Nord department/59, North
of  France. All of these activities count for the Val de Sambre
Fortresses Award  (DFVS). 1) The Fort du Bourdiau (DFCF 59-029, DFVS
59-05), city of Ferrière la  Grande (CP 59680) using the call sign
F5KDB/P1, by F4CGQ and F4CJH on 40 metres.  2) The Fort de Cerfontaine
(DFCF 59-045, DFVS 59-10), city of Cerfontaine (CP  59680) using the
call sign F5KDB/P2, by F5UGX and F4CIT on 40 metres. 3) The  Fort de
Boussois (DFCF 59-041, DFVS 59-09), city of Boussois (CP 59168) using

15/10/2007:  Toby, DD5FZ is going to  hit the airwaves from Montenegro
as 4N6FZ from October 15-27th. He may also be a  guest operator at the
station of YT6A and plans to take part in the CQWW DX SSB  and the WAG

15/10/2007:  Roberto, YV5IAL will be active QRP as CE2/YV5IAL from
Chile, October 15-21st. He plans to operate PSK31 daily on 14070.15

15/10/2007:  Larry, N0UU and his XYL Jo Ann are  travelling through
the South Pacific and Larry plans to activate following DXCC  entities
and IOTA Islands: October 15th as FO/N0UU from Makatea Island (OC-066,
 DIFO FO-051); October 16th as FO/N0UU from Fakarava Atoll (OC-066,
DIFO FO-040);  October 17th as FO/N0UU from Raroia Atoll (OC-066, DIFO
FO-075); October 19th as  FO/N0UU from Pukarua Atoll (OC-238, DIFO
FO-072); October 23rd as VP6UU from  Henderson Island (OC-056);
October 24th as VP6UU from Ducie Island (OC-182); and  October 27th as
CE0/N0UU from Easter Island (SA-001). Larry's preferred  frequencies
are 21.290 and 14.215 MHz but he has also been spotted on 17m SSB.  He

15/10/2007:  Wally/VK6YS and  Bruce/KD6WW will be active as VK6YS/p
from Rottnest Island (OC-164, WLOTA  LH-2197), between 1100z October
15th to 0300z October 17th. This will be a short  mid week stay with
activity on 40, 30 and 20m CW and SSB. QSL direct to VK4AAR  (Alan

17/10/2007:  A group of 6 operators will be active as C52C between
October 17-30th. Activity will be on all HF bands (160-10m), and 6m
with an  accent on the lower bands, especially 160m. They plan to have
up to 4 well  equipped stations on the air. They will also participate
in CQWW SSB Contest  using the call sign C50C. Operators mentioned
are: Rich/OM2TW (Team Leader),  Bob/OM1KW (CW/SSB operator),
Roman/OM2RA (CW/SSB operator), Joe/OM5AW (CW/SSB  operator),
Noro/OM6NM (CW/SSB operator) and Dano/OM1NW (Digi modes and SSB
operator). During this DXpedition, the group wants to try to activate
Bijol  Island (AF-060). Currently, they still don't have permission

17/10/2007:  Ulli, DL2AH will be  active from Chatham Island (OC-038)
using the call sign ZL7/DL2AH between  October 17-30th. He will use a

18/10/2007:  John, KE6GFF, will  once again operate as T6EE from
Kabul, Afghanistan, between October 18th and  November 12th. It is

18/10/2007:  Igor/VE3ZF, Ken/VE3FDX, Bill/K5YG, Travis/W5GED,

(NA-128), October  18-21st. They will be signing VE3ZF/2 (CW and SSB)
and W5GED/VE2 (RTTY and PSK),  while during the W/VE Islands QSO Party

19/10/2007:  Haru  Uchida, JA1XGI/W8XGI pland to be active as VK9GLX
from Lord Howe Island (OC-004)  between October 19th and 22nd.
Activity will be on 40, 30 and 20 metres, with  emphasis on the low
bands, using CW, SSB and digital modes (RTTY, SSTV). QSL via  JA1XGI,

LOOKING  AHEAD

20/10/2007:  Special event station SU50JOTA will be aired October
20th and 21st to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of JOTA. The SU50JOTA
team will  join more than 500,000 people, from over 100 countries,
participating in the  largest annual world-wide Scouting event - a
Jamboree on the Air, or JOTA. The  station will be operational from
the Cairo International Scout Centre. Bands  will be 14 Mhz, 21, Mhz,
18 Mhz, 3.5 Mhz and 7 Mhz CW and SSB. SU50JOTA Team  Members is SU1GS,

24/10/2007:  Laci, HA6NL and his friends will be again be on  Thassos
Island (EU-174, MIA MG-124, WLOTA LH-4186), Greece, from October 24th
to  November 8th. The group call is J48RT and the operators are
Gyuszi/HA2VR,  Laci/HA6NL (J48NL), Zsolt HA6PS (J48PS), Tibor/HA6ZV,
Al/HA7JJS (J48JJ) and  Laci/HA7PL (J48PL). All of them will work with
SV8/HA.... as well. The operation  is planned on all HF bands plus 6
and 2 metres. They will use CW-SSB-PSK31- MS-  JT6M modes. They will
take part in The CQ WW DX SSB contest (October 27-28th) as
Multi-Single with J48RT call. They also will take part in the HA QRP
contest  (November 1-7th) and try to work on The Ukrainian Contest
too. First time this  year they will make a trip to the Ypsario
montain, and will be operating on 2m,  in the VHF contest, November
2-4th. The QTH name is Kazaviti and the QRA locator  is KN20HR. All

21/11/2007:   Nikolay, LZ1NK will be active as TA3/LZ1NK from the
Bursa region of Asian Turkey  between November 21-26th, including the
CQWW DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) as  a Single-Op/Single-Band

23/11/2007:  Juhani, OH3SR  plans to be active holiday style as

26/07/2008:  Colin, MM0NDX states that IOTA EU-008 will be on air  for
sure during the 2008 IOTA Contest (July 26-27th). He will use the call
sign  MM0NDX/p. He is undecided as to which island he will activate,
Gigha (EU-008,  IOSA NH-24, SCOTIA CS-23) or Kerrera (EU-008, IOSA
FL-02, SCOTIA CN-02) Islands.  Colin will update the information in

SPECIAL  EVENTS

12/10/2007:  As part of the GACW 30th Anniversary, a team of
operators will be QRV from the city of Samuel Morse, Buenos Aires
Province,  between October 12-15th. The call signs will be LU1DZ/E,
LU5FZ/D, LU6UO/D,  LU7BTO/D, LW1EXU/D and LW2DX/D. They will have two
complete stations, with high  power and wire/vertical antennas. They
will be active on all band/modes from 160  to 10 metres, with emphasis
in CW. Samuel Morse is located in the NW region of  Buenos Aires
Province. One of the nearest major Cities is Junín, which is 26 KM

12/10/2007:  Special  event station I0RI will be aired October 12th
(Spain's National Day) from the  Spanish Embassy in Rome. QSL via
IZ0GKN (bureau) or IZ0FMA (direct). A  certificate will be issued free
of charge for contacting both I0RI and EH4EI in  June and October.

(Spain's National Day) from the Italian Embassy  in Madrid. QSL via

12/10/2007:   The W5-National Wildlife Refuge ARC will operate from
the Hagerman National  Wildlife Refuge
(www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/texas/hagerman/index.html) on  October
12-14th. This operation coincides with the National Wildlife Refuge
Week  and is in support of the KP1-5 Project and the US national
wildlife refuge  system. Look for W5NWR on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK on

13/10/2007:  On the 17th of  October 1907 Guglielmo Marconi sent his
first commercial message from the, then  new, station at Clifden,
Ireland. This October, in celebration of this historic  event, members
of the Galway Radio Experimenters Club will be running a special
event station from Saturday 13th to Wednesday 17th from Clifden. The
club has  been issued the call sign EI100MFT for the event, MFT being
the last call sign  used on the original station. On the Wednesday
they will be making a special  linkup with the Marconi sister station
in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Part of this  linkup will be an exchange of
greetings between President Mary McAleese and  Lieutenant Governor of
Nova Scotia the Honourable Mayann E. Francis. The group  will also be
honoured to have Princess Electra Marconi present as she is coming  to
Clifden for the festival along with an Exhibit from the Marconi
Foundation in  Bologna. The Galway Radio Experimenters Club will also
be presenting a display  of vintage equipment. More details on the

15/10/2007:  Look for Syrian hams to use  the special prefix 6C60 to
celebrate the 60th anniversary of amateur radio in  Syria during the

17/10/2007:  To honour the admission of the Republic of Montenegro  to
the Council of Europe, the radio club of the Council of Europe
organizes an  expedition in collaboration with 4O3A/Ranko October 17th

19/10/2007:   UBA-section GDV will activate special event call sign
ON50JOTA, October 19-21st  on HF/VHF/UHF scouting frequencies. Skeds

19/10/2007:  The Italian's Strange  Radio Event will take place this
year between 0600z, October 19th and 2200z,  October 21st. This year
the "Strange Radio Team" (SRT) is trying to involve SRT  members
outside of Italy too. Many Italian stations will be using many special
 "SRT" call signs (such as IS0SRT, II1SRT, IR8SRT, IO8SRT, IU7SRT,
II0SRT etc  ...) and the SRT group is hoping to hear many other SRT
call signs from many  other countries. SRT plaques will be awarded for
this event and Strange Radio  Event certificates will be available for
making QSOs with different SRT special  call signs. The mode for this

After  successfuly passed HAM exam in Senegal, Jovica, T98A (ex.
9K2/T94FC, ST0RM,  ST2A, T94FC) received 6W1SJ license today (October
10, 2007). As during previous  activities you can expect most of the
activity on CW, with some SSB and digital  modes. Jovica stays in
Senegal for at least two years with great possibilities  to activate
other West Africa countries.
