FANNING ATOLL (OC-084), EASTERN KIRIBATI
KM9D, Mike, and KF4TUG, Jan, have set up their station on Fanning Atoll (aka
Tabuaeran) and should begin operations today sometime after their sunrise.
Their sunrise is around 1630Z. Mike will be on CW while Jan will do most of
the SSB, both with the call T32MO. Look for them to be QRV on all bands
(10-160 meters) possibly through next weekend. QSL via OM2SA, include LOTW.
>From 31st January to 10th February there will be operation from Cambodia.
The Ops will be:
Steve - 9M6DXX - who will use XU7DXX
John - 9M6XRO - who will use XU7XRO
and Pete SM6GMZ - who will use XU7ADI
QSL routes are - for XU7ADI via SM6GMZ, and for XU7DXX and XU7XRO via
myself - M5AAV
Further details will be posted when known, but I think you will find 'DXX
primarily on SSB and 'XRO on the key.
5H1Z update directly from Serge/F6AML:
Serge," Sam"/F6AML (ex TX6A, 5H1C, TO7C a s o) member of the "F6KOP TEAM"
will be active as 5H1Z from Zanzibar Island (AF-032, WLOTA LH-1080) between
January 18-29th. Activity will be on 80-10 metre CW/SSB with 400 Watts and
verticals.Do know that this trip is a professional one. Serge will be based
on Zanzibar but will have to move quite daily to Dar es Salam or to the
Kenyan border. He hopes to be active most on his favourites bands , 80, 40,
17 and 12m, and try to be so so on CW and SSB.
He will traffic on 12 and 17 at the end of the day and turn to 80 and 40
later. The op's tiredness, will count also and may be a part of traffic or
no.Sam will try to pay some attention to West coast NA and JA stations. QSL
is OK via the French REF-Bureau (please only this bureau) or direct with
SAE + 1 IRC or with 1 USD for Europe or 2 USDs for the rest of the world.

5T5DY
To day, Benoit, F8PDR, said to F5NQL that 5T5DY callsign has been used by
pirates for a while in the past.
Thanks to Jean/5T0JL, Benoit has got an Official and regular licence under
this callsign, for Feb 05 to 18, 2007. All the documentation is in hand and
will be sent very soon tothe DXCC Desk.
INDIA - VU7/
A special permit to operate on 30 metres has been granted to the VU7RG
expedition to the Lakshadweeps (January 15-25th). Due to the
current poor conditions 30m will have high priority, since it will be
one of the few bands to serve the most difficult regions, especially
North America.
VU7RG activity will be from Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat Islands (AS-011).
Bookmark and pay regular visits to www.vu7.in for further information
and updates.
SPECIAL NOTE: Dov, 4Z4DX/M0DOV, will be active from VU7RG on 160m,80m
and RTTY on 17m from January 18-25th. SKEDS ARE WELCOME BEFORE JANUARY
15th via: 4z4dx (at) iarc.org
David, K3LP, is planning to be active from the Lakshadweep Islands (AS-011)
as VU7/VU3RWO between January 15-25th. Activity will be mainly CW and SSB,
with limited RTTY. He will use 2 SteppIR beams with 2 amplifiers. No other
details were provided. Stay tuned!
A special permit was granted by WPC (Indian Govt.) to operate from Minicoy
Island (AS-106 - Asia #1 on Most Wanted IOTA List) which will be the fourth
VU7RG Operation Site !!!
The last operation from Minicoy Island took place decades ago and it was
extremely difficult to obtain this additional permit. Once again NIAR and
Bharathi VU2RBI made it possible again; You can expect 2-3 full equipped
stations from Minicoy Island (SSB+CW), start date January 16th. For easy
identification these Minicoy Stations will operate VU7RG / VU.... and will
have assigned own bandslots, while Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat Islands
(AS-011) will use VU7RG. The www.vu7in web page will be updated with more
details.

>From the XT2C crew via Rafik, F5CQ's mailbox.
Ouagadougou, Jan 13 , 15:00 UTC
Hi all,
Some health news from our ill op's : They are still a little tired, but they
feel, day after day, better and better. The rest of the crew has found the
most efficient drug : giving them a paddle, a keyboard or a mike and all
their problems of illness are forgotten.*
To day (see statistics) at 14:00 UTC, we counted 6,852 QSO for the last 24h,
and a total of 32,345 logged in 6 days. Where are we going to ?*
The CW average grows up a little bit.
This evening, around 21h00 UTC, Franck/F4AJQ will be on 160 metres/SSB on
1850 kHz . Three stations, one per mode CW/SSB/Digi will be on the air too,
all night long.
Now we have a challenge to hold : 6000 QSO per day.
We apologize for those whose haven't still be copied. The pile ups are very
very huge and huge. Our ears are sometimes tired also.
As part of the expeditionn know that there is a school partnership beetween
the Norghin-A, primary school, in Ouagadougou, and the Pompignac (near
Bordeaux) primary school, in France Before the DX pedition, was organized
in Pompignac, the operation "a pen for Ouaga", which purpose was to collect
pens and pencils, for the Norghin-A school bgirls and boys. This collection
was given to Gérard/F2VX, in charge for him to remit this collection to the
Headmistress of the Burkinabé Norghin-A school.
This ceremony will happen on next Monday, in presence of a "Ouagadougou
partage" Not Gouv. Organization, delegate Officer.
Then each class pupils will delegate one of them to go to the radio camp to
visit the XT2C crew and the stations. A kid day style QSO, will be tried
between the two schools, in Ouagadougou and Pompignac.
While this event, three stations will continue be on the air, one per mode.
We thank all of you for the messages posted on the guest book.
These are the news.
73's de toute l'équipe
