Many thanks to all who helped today up at FMC. We finally got up the TH-11
5 band yagi onto the short tower, putting it up at about 100 feet above the
ground.

Unfortunately, the SWR readings were very bad, and it seems that the balun
might be bad. Randy went back up the tower 2 more times after the main
group left and installed a 1:1 dipole connctor, and the SWR got a little
better, which suggests that the balun is bad. I have talked to john, W6BXQ
who will put it on a network analyzer to tell us if it is, for sure...
later today I will put 200 ohms across the output side and read it with my
MFJ analyzer, too...

Next comes the 30/40 M dipoles at 90 feet and the 80/160 dipoles at 125
feet. Then we are ready for real DX !!

If we get this sorted out before the first weekend in March, I suggest that
we put together a multi-op effort in the ARRL DX contest - SSB portion. We
could really up the club station totals.

We worked XT2C even with the mismatch on 17 M today, so the system should do
really well in a contest.

Let me know if you are interested in the Contest.

73,
