SFDXA Members & Friends,
We are off to a fast start this year!
*** We are starting this bimonthly email newsletter to keep you informed about the latest SFDXA news.
*** A new repeater controller has been purchased for the SFDXA repeater and is now online.
*** SFDXA Board members recently reviewed the results of our recent Member Opinion Survey. Over 50% of our members responded. The tabulated results will soon be published on the SFDXA website for your personal inspection.
*** SFDXA will be initiating a 2-meter net very soon on our existing repeater.
*** A new TH-11 beam was installed at our club station (K4FK) but is not yet operational due to unexpected problems.
*** New SFDXA committees are being formed and existing committees are being expanded.
*** SFDXA will soon be initiating an Outbound QSL Service on a trial basis.
*** A new SFDXA Membership Packet has been created. Please contact Mark (K2AU) if you need one.
Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be held next week on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 7. Our March presentation is entitled "HOW TO OPTIMIZE YOUR DXing AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SUNSPOT CYCLE". We are honored to have with us Dr. Ed Callaway - N4II, Fellow of the Technical Staff at Motorola, as speaker. Ed will enlighten us about how ACE-HF software can be used to predict openings to specific DX locations. Ed has used this software very successfully at the Motorola ARC station - W4MOT - to substantially boost that club's DXCC count.
As usual, our March meeting will be held in the FLORIDA MEDICAL CENTER AUDITORIUM located on Oakland Park Blvd. (adjacent to the Florida Turnpike) in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Our group typically gathers around 6:00 p.m. to enjoy a nice dinner (cost is only $7 per person), followed by our regular meeting and the featured presentation which begins at 7:33 p.m.
Please mark your calendar and join us on March 7!
73,
Ray, N4RU
President - SFDXA
