1. To find your LATITUDE/LONGITUDE in DECIMAL, GRID SQUARE and
LATITUDE/LONGITUDE in DEGREES, MINUTES and SECONDS:
Go to: _http://www.arrl.org/locate/locate.html_
(http://www.arrl.org/locate/locate.html)
Note: This will provide a 4 character Grid Square. If you need a 6
character Grid square, see below.
2. To find your LATITUDE/LONGITUDE in DECIMAL and GRID SQUARE (6
characters):
Go to: _www.qrz.com_ (http://www.qrz.com)
Enter your call sign into the space at the top and enter
After your data is displayed, <click> on: Detailed Info
Note: Normally you will only need to use the first 4 characters
as your Grid Square in any required QSO exchange but you now
have all 6 just-in-case.
3. To find a ZIP CODE other than your own:
Go to: _http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp_
(http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp)
Go to: _http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/zipcityphone.asp_
(http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/zipcityphone.asp)
Note: This is useful if you need the Zip Code to find Latitude and
Longitude information for some other location.
4. If you have the Zip Code and need to find the cities in it:
Go to: _http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.jsp_
(http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown_zip.jsp)
5. If you have the Zip Code and need to find a map for it:
Go to: _http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/mapzip.asp_
(http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/mapzip.asp)
6. To find a foreign location LATITUDE/LONGITUDE in DECIMAL and
LATITUDE/LONGITUDE in DEGREES, MINUTES and SECONDS:
Go to: _http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/countries.asp_
(http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/countries.asp)
Then enter City and/or Country
Then <click> on the desired city name and you will get the info.
Note: If your don't know the Country, just enter the City and you
will get ALL Cities in the world with that same name.
If you cannot find some tiny town, choose the next larger town/city
near it. Then you can interpret the exact numerics from an atlas map.
7. To find a foreign location GRID SQUARE:
Go to: _www.qrz.com_ (http://www.qrz.com)
Enter the foreign station's call sign into the space at the top and enter
After your data is displayed, <click> on: Detailed Info
Note: Normally you will only need to use the first 4 characters
as your Grid Square in any required QSO exchange but you now
have all 6 just-in-case.
