There is still an on-going need for more Amateur Radio operators to
provide communications for the Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts. Today,
for example, about 12 more operators were needed to fulfill the requests
from American Red Cross. The needs are quite fluid. They are changing
each day.

Greg reports that the primary mission would be to provide communications
for Red Cross kitchens and shelters in the areas that Katrina caused
havoc. The Red Cross is adding more shelters each day, so that is one
reason why more operators are needed.

Also, Greg stated that relief operators will be needed to cover shelter
and kitchen-communication assignments that have already been established
over the past week or so.

Greg and his crew in Montgomery have also been assigning radio operators
to help with the Salvation Army at various locations as their needs
arise. The Montgomery site is the place to report to and receive
orientation before being deployed into a hurricane-stricken zone.
