When Sherry and I moved to Sewall's Point two years ago, little did we
realize that we would sustain three direct hits within 14 months. The first
two (Francis and Jeanne) caught us unprepared for storm surge (four feet of
water in the foyer and garage). This time, we were ready for Wilma. All
antennas )Butternut, Stepp-IR, 160M Gladiator) were safely elevated in the
garage, so no damage. The 7M6JKV rode Wilma out on the 30' tower without a
scratch. House sustained some water damage in the kitchen ceiling, but that
was it. We are safe and are our puppies. We evacuated last year but stayed
for Wilma. I am sorry to hear that so many suffered antenna damage but
everyone is safe, and that's the most important thing. Up north, it is said
that if an antenna survived the winter, it wasn't big enough. Antennas can,
and will, be rebuilt - lives cannot.
73 and keep safe,
