As I type the news summary for May we have just completed a SET (Simulated
> Emergency Test) for the section. The number of amateurs participating was
> encouraging. Special thanks to WB2LEZ in West Central Florida Section for
> acting as net control for the HF net. Also, thanks to amateurs throughout
the
> state that assisted. A complete report will be in next month's summary.
>
> Field Day is just around the corner and I wish everyone a safe and
successful
> event. I hope to receive a lot of NTS messages that weekend. Check at
> www.arrl.org/sections/SFL.html for most of the Field Day locations.
>
> Many groups are participating in Hurricane preparedness and safety expos.
> These events are beneficial for recruiting new club members and new
> licensees. (And don't forget to send me information and photos of your
> event).
>
> Other events of importance in June: Take your HT to Work Day on 6/22,
Amateur
> Radio Week beginning 6/19, and Kids Day on 6/18.

> The Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) has issued an invitation to
ARRL to

> In May many SFL members attended the ARRL national convention at Dayton
> Hamvention® and if you missed the convention you missed an entertaining
and
> educational time. At least twice I was asked if there was anyone left in
SFL

certainly
> enjoyed seeing many of you, even in White Castle after the event.
>
> Here's a message from northern Palm Beach county -- "Hello Fellow
Hams, Here we
> go again into another hurricane season. Hopefully we all learned from the
> experience of Frances and Jeanne and have started stocking up now on the
> items needed to survive during and after a hurricane. If any of you need
help
