For the first time in Many years, radio activity will take place from Desecho 
Island KP5 starting later today.  They were on a boat heading to the island 
this morning but since this is a work trip, the air time will be limited.
Two operators from the east coast have permission from the US government to 
land on the island and operate from the island for a limited time.  
Plus they will be working on a communications project on the island so they 
will not be on the air the entire time.  

Both operators are 1010 members!

I expect that since this island is in Very High demand for DXCC, that they 
will stay on 20 and 15 as much as possible during daylight hours, then 40 and 80 
meters during the night when possible.  I expect 10 meters will be their last 
priority, unfortunately but Good Luck.

They have been given a minimum of 48 hours on the island but could
stay as late as Monday 1000Z December 19th.  Operations will be on CW and
SSB.

I think it has been about 15-20 years since the last 1010 activity occurred 
from KP5, so it will not be a new country, just some happy DXers that get to 
work them on any band...
