I'm typing this at lunch at my office, also damaged in Frances and
> Jeanne, where I have stable power, A/C and phones (luxuries we have come
> to appreciate recently). My OM, David, W4DKB, the pooch (DL1WUF) and I
> are all okay.
>
> We are back at the home QTH with roof and ceiling damage, a new
> refrigerator after Frances and the spare refrigerator done in by Jeanne.
> Our short section of Rohn 45 is 4 feet in the ground with about 80
> pounds of cement at the base and it leans about 10 degrees from
> vertical. The mast on the tower section supports a broken Isopole,
> another reminder of Jeanne. We are babysitting an undersize generator
> to keep food from spoiling, a fan running (to save us and the dog) and
> to run the pump for water and showers. The local wildlife -- birds,
> rabbits and squirrels are all OK.
>
> This county is not pretty -- piles of vegetation, wood, furniture, and
> aluminum line virtually every street and most homes have blue tarps,
> plywood, and assorted building materials holding it together. Area
> newspapers, when you can find one, have photos from Martin, St. Lucie,
> and Brevard that look similar.
>
> I hope everyone and their families were uninjured in the storm and that
> your QTH is repairable.
>
> If you are an EC, AEC, or OES and you or your EOC sustained tower and
> antenna damage during recent storms please notify your EC and our SEC so
> we can plan alternate emergency communications routes.
>
> When I have power again I will have 20, 40, and 80 meter capability and
> local 2-meter capability. I look forward to seeing you on the nets
> soon.
>
> To the members of the SFDXA: unfortunately my meeting with you was
> cancelled due to Hurricane Jeanne. I look forward to meeting with you
> next September (hopefully sooner) when we travel to Fort Lauderdale for
> the OM's business. Meanwhile, GUD DX and CU in the pileups (hopefully
> soon).
>
> To all section members: please volunteer for relief efforts if you are
> able and get together with your club members for antenna parties.
>
> Lastly, a big Thank You to all who volunteered for emergency
> communications and relief efforts during and after the storms.
>
> Stay safe and stay on the air.
