PETER I 2005.......A GO !

The 2005 Dxpedition to Peter I Island, Antarctica, is a go for late January 2005 during the next Austral summer.  You may recall that this Dxpedition was postponed last year due to unforeseen transportation difficulties.  Now, the team has contracted with a newly refurbished icebreaker formally in service with the Chilean Navy.  The 83m long vessel will transport the operating and support teams to Peter I, move the equipment, shelters, life support, and personnel ashore via helicopter and then remain offshore for the proposed 14 day radio operation.  This plan dramatically increases the safety factor for the team and increases the opportunity for a successful radio operation.
This is a very expensive undertaking. It will be 70% funded by the team members.  Additional financial sponsors are being sought. Equipment sponsors are in place.
