To ALL Southern Florida Amateurs, Many of us were spared the effects of
Hurricane Charley but others were
not. Your fellow amateurs have been working long, hard hours providing
Emergency Communications. We have need of relief operators in several areas
and the request for
new aid arrives daily. YOUR help IS needed. We need operators in Osceola
(Kissimmee), Highlands (Sebring), Lee (Fort
Myers and Estero), and Charlotte (Punta Gorda). Do not pack your bags and
go. Send an E-mail to Ron Wetjen
wd4ahz at gte.net if you can help in Charlotte. If you can help in
Highlands, Osceola or Lee send your e-mail to Jim Goldsberry
KD4GR at comcast.net. They will coordinate the number of folks going so
that we have as close to the correct amount of operators at any given
time. They will put you in touch with the local contacts in some
cases. Most areas have no creature comforts and you have to bring food.
Most
areas have a curfew and some have limited roads to access the work
site. Pay -- a smile, a hearty thank you, and a good feeling that you
helped. So let us hear from you -- SOON. 73 and THANK YOU Sherri W4STB
